What It Looks Like To Do Business With Us

GPS Tracking Canada Device Orders: How It Works

Customizing Your Solution with our consultative sales team

When it comes to getting your fleet outfitted with a GPS tracking solution from GPS Tracking Canada, are you sitting there wondering how it works? Well, it’s quite simple!

Firstly, we get you set up into a conversation with our sales team. Firstly, they’ll have a phone conversation with you to understand your needs and what you hope the fleet management system will accomplish on your behalf. From there, we will let you know if we see a fit between your needs and our products. If so, great! You will be offered a no-cost, and no pressure demonstration of the system, allowing you and your team members to see how well our solution will actually fulfill your requirements. After the demonstration, you’ll receive a quote that is fairly priced according to the market!

Placing your order

When you choose to move forward with purchasing trackers (and submit a vehicle list including year/make/models) for your fleet, a member of our staff will prepare your order to ship to your designated shipping address. Before shipping the units out, we will verify the payment information and charge you for any hardware purchased and your first and last months payment for the units. Units are typically shipped the same day we receive payment, and larger orders might take a week or two to order additional stock from our suppliers. Once we have the units available, we will ship out the physical tracking devices, along with any specialized cabling for your specific vehicle(s) and/or equipment. By taking your vehicle list before the payment is made, we can ensure that you will have everything you need to get started when your order arrives and there are no surprise charges for additional hardware required.

Installing your order

OBDII Tracking Devices

Our standard units can easily plug into the OBD II port of almost any light duty vehicle. Some specific vehicle year/make/models may need a specialty harness to allow the unit to connect into the diagnostic port. A small portion of vehicles have an OBDII port located in an awkward location, resulting in our OBDII units sticking out in a position where they can accidentally be knocked by the driver. If this is the case with your vehicles, you can either reposition the port or use one of our aforementioned adapters.

Hardwired Tracking Devices OR Special Adapter Requirements

If your customized solution requires the use of a hardwired tracking device or custom adapter harnesses we will have our third party professional installers reach out to you to schedule an appointment. It is important that we are able to verify the installation at the time, not on the weekend, and so installations should be scheduled during our business hours whenever possible.

Battery Powered Tracking Devices

Instructions regarding the mounting/positioning of your battery powered tracking device will be provided to you. As with any tracking device, you need to ensure that it is not placed somewhere with metal blocking the signal (ie. inside of a full metal trailer) as this will block cellular and GPS signals.

Creating your tracking database

Once your order is confirmed and shipped out, we will start working on the customization of your database. We add in your main system user that was identified during your consultation with our sales team, and add in some custom reports and alerts that make sense for your business according to that same conversation. The database is created right after your order is placed to ensure that your unit(s) can start logging information immediately after you (or our installers) get them into your vehicles.

Onboarding and Support

After your order has shipped, our in-house Support Department will be contacting you to complete your Onboarding. The purpose of Onboarding is to further understand your needs and what will make the solution a success for you, as well as providing you with an introductory training session and introducing you to our roadmap to success. The roadmap is a document we use to help train our clients on how to successfully use our systems. The document includes contact details for all of the relevant parties at our company and yours, and also includes a list of the relevant functions that you’re hoping to see from implementing a tracking system. Following this onboarding session, we will send out your login information and some useful getting started links. We will schedule a followup session with you during the Onboarding session as well. This can be a much-shorter screen-share session to review any outstanding questions or concerns with the system. This way, we don’t leave any questions on the table!

From high level “how it works” to deeper dives into the system’s capabilities, your on-going training and support for the system will be handled by us, during our operating hours. We will check in on you a few weeks after you start using the system to make sure that it is working for your needs. We will also periodically check in on you throughout the year to make sure that you are always happy with our GPS tracking solution!
