Geotab provides live tracking as frequently as every one second. Most other tracking systems only track every 2 or more minutes. Geotab historical data remains available for you to access up to 1 year guaranteed. This has proven to be very useful for defending against lawsuits that are filed long after the incident. Geotab provides a true, live transmission, every one second, not every few minutes like other systems. Additionally, Geotab logs data by the activity of the vehicle, not by a portion of time or distance. Geotab has a patented algorithm that provides extremely accurate mileage and a true bread crumb trail. Instead of a bread crumb dot on the map every few minutes, Geotab provides a dot for each important event of the vehicle activity. Ie. Geotab logs vehicle movement such as turns and changes in speed. In cases of rapid acceleration or deceleration, the bread crumb dots would be logged every few seconds and this information would be transmitted live, every few seconds. If the vehicle was to drive straight along the highway without turning or changing speed, the bread crumb dot would be logged every 2 minutes.

Geotab has maintenance scheduling built into our software. We also include engine data in our system as well (for no extra cost). We connect to the same diagnostic port used by your mechanic.

We can provide you detailed data on fuel levels, oil levels, coolant levels and any diagnostic fault codes which come directly from the engine and it is easily viewed within our software. *

You can enter an unlimited amount of geographical zones into our software. This can be done by drawing the zone around the chosen address on the map or importing the list of addresses from any database or an excel spreadsheet. Many analytics are provided with the zones; such as, how much time spent at work site zones vs. driving time, what time the vehicle arrived and left the zone, etc.

Geotab uses Google Maps mapping software and at no extra charge allows you to optionally select from three other mapping programs.

You can create many different rules in our system and they can set off the in-vehicle buzzer or can be sent to an email or a text message. They are also easily viewed in our exceptions report (and note all of our reports can be emailed as well). The unique Driver Feedback feature enables you to select how you want the technology to interact with your drivers to best effect safer and green driving habits, while saving money on fuel and maintenance costs.

You can group your vehicles any way you choose. The vehicles can be in more than one group as well.

You can enter in an address and click on “nearest” button and the list of vehicles will pop up in order of closest to that particular address showing how far way each vehicle is, thereby saving you money on fuel and labour costs, while improving customer service.

You won’t have to worry about data overage charges

Many GPS solutions only have 2MB of data, to provide you with a low upfront fee and you have to beware of data overage charges. Geotab’s data is pooled across all of Geotab’s 1,500,000+ units in the field, so you won’t have to worry about data overage charges. Additionally, Geotab uses a patented data compression algorithm to transit large amounts of data at many times per minute. You can deploy the Geotab software on an unlimited amount of computers. Keep in mind that that other GPS tracking systems don’t have these built-in features, which are standard features included in the Geotab GO devices

Direct connect to the engine diagnostic port to provide you detailed data on fuel levels, oil levels, coolant levels and fault codes to provide you with valuable information to help in the maintenance of your vehicle to help you avoid costly repairs. With our engine diagnostics connection, the Geotab platform will request VIN and odometer reading. engine service hours and mileage are used for maintenance reminders.

Built-in accelerometer

A built-in accelerometer provide information on erratic driver behaviour and to provide statistical information prior to vehicle accidents, which may help you to determine accident liability and defense. Alerts (email, text) can also be immediately sent upon a possible vehicle accident.
